Abstract Book and Abstract CD-ROM

All accepted abstracts will be published in the abstract book and on the abstract CD-ROM; both can be found in the conference bag.

Banking and Exchange

The official currency in CUC.
Banking hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 - 14:00. On weekends and all afternoons the banks are closed. Note that the weekend here is Saturday and Sunday.
Automated cash dispensers are located outside every bank and other areas and cash can be withdrawn 24 hours a day.
Foreign currency may be changed at banks, hotels, airports and in exchange offices.

Conference Bag
The conference bag, containing the conference material, will be available at the Conference Bag Counter in the registration area.

Conference Courtesy and Code of Conduct
As a consideration to all conference delegates, mobile phones should be turned off in all session rooms. Conference delegates are also expected to refrain from the following:
1) Inflicting personal threat or harm to any conference delegate, exhibitor or staff
2) Inflicting damage to any property
3) Preventing speakers from giving their speeches

Currency
The Cuban currency is the Cuban peso which comes in denominations of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 notes as well as coins of 0.1, 0.5, 20 and 50 Cents and, 1 and 3 Cuban peso.
The Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC) is the currency of official circulation in the country. It can be obtained on your arrival to Cuba at airports, hotels, conventions centers, bank offices and in currency exchange offices. The exchange to this currency can be made with Euros, US or Canadian dollars, Sterling pounds, Swiss francs and Mexican pesos, by the rate of exchange and the commissions valid at the moment.
In Cuba, the following credit cards are accepted: Visa, Cabal and MasterCard, as long as the creditor is not a US bank.

Huw Smith Award
The Huw Smith Award for Excellence in research. It recognizes scientists younger than 45 who greatly contributed to the field of giardiasis and/or cryptosporidiosis. A call for nominations will be open and sent in September 2016. The results will be assessed by the committee, which considered the candidates’ sustained effort in the field of giardiasis and cryptosporidiosis. The Chair of the Huw Smith Awards Committee, will announce the 3rd winner of the award on April 28, at the Closing Ceremony of the 6th IGCC in Havana, 2017. Electricity
In Cuba, the voltage runs at 110v a/c. Plugs are 2 pin so an adaptor may be necessary.

Internet Access
Wi-Fi will be available for registered delegates free of charge at the venue

Liability
The Conference organizers shall not be held liable for personal injury or any loss or damage to the belongings of conference delegates, either during or as a result of the conference. Please check the validity of your own insurance.

Name Badge
All participants, registered accompanying persons are kindly requested to wear their badges during the conference in order to be admitted to the venue and other scheduled activities. Each delegate is required to present the badge in order to gain access to the conference. The name badge must be clearly displayed.

Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony will take place in Bucán restaurant on April 26, at 18:00. All registered delegates are invited to attend this event.

People with Disabilities
The Havana International Conference Center (HICC) (named in Spanish: Palacio de las Convenciones) is accessible to conference participants with disabilities.

Poster Area / Poster Sessions
Posters will be presented on _____, April 26 and on _____, April 27, from 12:00 – 14:00. Poster authors will be asked to be present next to their poster during these times.
Posters must be set up early in the morning and removed at the end of the day.

Speaker Preview Room / Speaker Lounge
Invited speakers and oral abstract presenters must report to the Speaker Preview Room at least four hours prior to their presentation to upload and check their presentation. For a morning presentation, please report to the Speaker Preview Room the day before up until 19:00.
The Speaker Preview Room and Speaker Lounge located on level M1 will be open during the following times:
Wednesday, April 26    08:30 – 19:30
Thursday, April 27           07:00 – 19:00
Friday, April 28  07:00 – 19:00

Transportation
Havana city is connected to the rest of the world through its international airport, José Martí. The airport is located _______.
There are several information desks in the arrivals and departures areas of Terminals 2 and 3. There are also various tourist information points throughout the terminals.
Arrival from the airport to Havana International Conference Center (HICC) (named in Spanish: Palacio de las Convenciones)
From the airport you can reach the city centre either by taxi or a rented car.
30 min (17.4 km) by Carr. Central de Cuba
35 min (21.8 km) by Autopista La Habana - San Antonio de los Baños
40 min (23.2 km) by Calzada de Bejucal

Visa Requirements
International participants may require visas in order to enter Cuba. Participants are requested to check with their consulate or diplomatic mission in their home country or with their travel agency for visa requirements. It is a responsibility of the participant to obtain a visa if required.

Letter for invitation
Upon request, the Secretariat of the Congress will send a personal invitation to participants. This invitation is meant only to help visitors to raise travel funds or to obtain a visa, and is not a commitment on the part of organizers to provide any financial support.
